The Scarlet Willow is a fantastic shrub or tree to use in a medium sized garden as it will provide months of winter colour from its red-orange bark which is most prominent on young growth. Although this tree if left to grow naturally will grow to a medium to large tree they are often pruned hard either by coppicing or pollarding keeping the size in check.

This willow will enjoy an evenly moist but not boggy soil as they are thirsty plants, they will sit nicely next to a pond or stream.
